Willem Zafferrano has lived in the US, Italy and, for the past 17 years, the UK. Mostly he has lived in cities being reborn. Pittsburgh, New Haven, Turin, New York, London. In these places, buildings are stage sets, great museums and temples in their midst.
He has a traveled the mountains of the Americas, rode some of the great rivers; heard the silence of still islands, empty chapels, deserted plazas. He hears wandering chimes of Bali and the trills of Kentucky mandolins.
You might find him, mandolin on his back, working on the 35 or the 37, on the Clapham Omnibus.
